Meditation is the action or practice of single pointed concentration on an object or concept. It comes from the Latin meditatum which means “to ponder”. It’s a process of quieting the chatter in your mind and developing deep concentration that over time can leave lasting mental and physical health benefits, improving your overall cognitive abilities and sense of wellbeing.

Although often used interchangeably, meditation is different than mindfulness.

Mindfulness is the state of being fully present, aware and conscious of your surrounds and state of being. Meditation is taking all of your mental power and turning it to a single point of concentration and becoming completely immersed in that object. While you can do something else while being present and mindful, you can’t do anything else while meditating.
